Well the guy who says not to get either and to buy a spyder…not the best advice, if your planning on just playing rec or just small games for fun a tippmann is your best bet, they never break and besides you dont need to shoot fast if you can aim, then you can get a kill in 2 or 3 shots instead of unloading 10bps just to hit 1 person. Anyways, the bt4 and the 98 custom are just about the same general thing. The bt4 however is easier to field strip and easier to change from mech to electric (although the 98 is pretty easy too). The 98 custom also has ACT which is anti chop technology; meaning that if a ball is only half way in the gun when it is fired, it wont break the ball.
I suggest the 98 custom since it is much more well know than the bt4 and has more upgrades.
your a child

J MONEY- your the child!!! Paintball pros are making as much as 500,000$(USD) on 1 torney. thats more then your parents make in 8 years
but any way the BT4 combat has the following:
Tournament legal external velocity adjuster
Removable grip frame for quick and easy upgrades
Easily accepts expansion chambers, vertical and horizontal bottle adapters
Works with CO2 or compressed air

Modular trigger system
1 year full parts and labor warranty through the manufacturer
Slide-Away Feedport for easy cleaning and maintenance – offset for aim and accuracy
Lightweight balanced construction
Adjustable vertical front grip
Selecta-Barrel adapter allows use of multiple barrel threads
the tippman plat. 98 act has the following
Split receiver design – provides easier access to internal components for simplified installation of accessories and upgrades
Easy to remove power tube – self sealing/locking gas line makes cleaning and maintaining your marker quick and easy
Full Depth Pockets for ASA – eliminates the need to loosen the ASA bolts when dissassembling the marker
Secure Front Site Spring and Trigger Pins – Easier to service and reassemble
Matte Finish – Durable matte finish on ASA and barrel reduces reflective glare
Picatinny Rails – makes adding carry handles, scopes, or sites a snap
Vertical Front grip – redesigned front vertical grip for improved stability and added texture for a better feel
Redesigned Sling Mount End Cap – allows easy attachment of a variety of different style slings

500 shots per full just plain sucks, i can get a full case(2000 balls) out of my bob long. the cycle rate(BPS) is also horrible. 11isnt that good, i’m walking the trigger at about 10BPS, w/o ramping. While the tippman’s Tournament legal external velocity adjuster is good.
i dont want 2 pop your bubble or anything but, i wouldnt get eighter cause you can get a spyder vs1 for $140ish, its got better stuff on it…
EDIT: yeah the tippmans dont "break" as much as spyders but every damn person has 1…. and you dont have problems w/ your markers if you take care of them, and if you just so want 2 try speedball or somthing like that when your playing against people that thas their gun on ramping and shooting 25BPS and your sitting there shooting 4 and 5 your f*cked cause they’ll have you pined and you have no way of gettting out
i know i guy that bought a 98 for rec. and he then wanted to try speedball, well a 98 ISNT any were near the normal or even mid normal gun 2 play speedball with..
I was a D-DAY in PA(7-12/13) and me and my buddy counted 40 out of 50 people having the 98. may be its me, but i want something that not every 1 has and can afford, like a laser ingraved ego, or a blue and silver eteck ego( i only now of 2, mine and my buddies)
EDIT: i can go and buy a 98 custom for 120$ (WOW!!) i can go out and buy a halo b w/ rip drive and for 80$ (wow thats over 3/4 of the guns value… and 200$ N2 tank, now your talking 280$ just to have the gun shoot and 120$ for the gun, maybe its just me but i like when my markers worth more then my shooting nessesitity(N2 tank and hopper)

the lowest prised gun that i have is around 350$ stock and the most expensive 1 that i have is around 800$ stock
