This episode I talk about choosing a good woodsball gun.
A common misconception about paintball guns that is that
There are guns meant for the woods
There are guns meant for airball/tournaments
The only true woodsball gun is a Tippmann with a flatline barrel, everything else is dual purpose.
Don’t look past guns like the SLG, Mini, Rail, Etek, Protege, & Intimidator when looking for a gun woodsball gun. These guns work great in the woods, and on the airball fields.
Tippmanns are only for woods, the HUGE loader sticking off the gun doesn’t work well on airball fields.
Personally, I recommend skipping the Tippmann’s and just going with a dual purpose gun. They are quieter, more accurate, better electronics, lighter, more effecient, they come with better eyes and detents, the list goes on and on
Want my recommendation for a good starting woodsball gun?
Black Proto Rail w/ 14″ .693 CP Barrel, Halo Loader, Crossfire 68/4500 HP Tank
Enjoy!

which is why you …
which is why you own an Ion
except that I have …
except that I have owned nearly every single Tippmann gun made going back 15+ years. I’ve put more shots through my SMG-60 than you have through your regular gun. I’ve put more paint through my Pro Am than most people have shot in their paintball career. I’ve been to their factory in Ft Wayne Indiana. I also know that Tippmann makes sewing machines.
Your the one who doesn’t know about Tippmanns bro
yea, except for …
yea, except for when the rachet breaks on the A-5 after about 30,000 shots. And they are hardly the most popular guns in America. And for me being an “idiot”, there are alot more people listening to me, than listening to you
tech pb…. you are …
tech pb…. you are an idiot. for one any gun can be used in any environment. you can use little ego’s in the woods and tippmans for Xball. and quit being so anti tippmann. its the most popular gun in america and the best.
this guy is so …
this guy is so wrong in many ways! You have to be a huge if you can’t hold up a tippman. Weight is not an issue
nice job on the …
nice job on the vids i really like them mike but stick to speedsball thats what you know and you have no clue about tippmanns man
dear god finally …
dear god finally someone agrees with me why i use my g7 and karni in the woods….
i think most …
i think most woodsball events that i know of arnt surrounded by water soo yea that was sorta a dumb statement
but i fell in a …
but i fell in a river (attempting to cross it under fire) up to my neck and my gun was completely submerged, but i could still fire….and somehow my paintballs were still dry lol (all during a torrential thunderstorm =))
and thats why, boys and girls, tippmanns are the best to go with
lol when do you …
lol when do you ever playi paintball near a pond? lol. and by the way, even when you drop a mechanical marker in water, its going to have problems.
I’ll have to agree …
I’ll have to agree with paintballtechpb.
I have played with my ion out in the woods and never had a problem with water. Also, for a lot of those “woodsball” guns with all the crap they put on them I haven’t seen a cheep one. Smart parts came out with the vibe a short while back. I have a friend who has one. very reliable and fairly inexpensive. at a little under 150 bucks. The only thing he complained was when he played in the dark the on light would blink making him easy to see. Lol
I’ve watched a few …
I’ve watched a few of your reviews, and I get the impression that your very anti Tippmann. You never say it, infact you own a few. Truth be told though, from some other reviews I feel you get most of your research first hand. Yeah the flatline is a BIG reason to get a Tippmann but so is a Hammerhead… And as far as a soaked marker. My rec play happens to include some marsh. I’ve done a head dive into crap, I dont want to be playing with my cocker when I do that.
Just my opinion no harm intended
sorry dood, in the …
sorry dood, in the history of paintball, there has never been a case of someone walking through a scenario or woodsball game, and somehow their paintball gun gets magically thrown through the air, and lands in the ocean, or in the great lakes
And just so you know, I’ve been playing at scenarios and woodsball tournaments for years, some had over 2000 people, and never once did someone come out with a soaked gun that somehow “Fell into the river” or “was dropped into the lake”, doesnt happen
what happens when u …
what happens when u drop that ego or long in the mud stream or a pond? also manny woodsballers cant go out and buy a 1,000 markers.
my pleasure
my pleasure
MIKE UR THE …
MIKE UR THE GREATEST!!!
I had a choice to …
I had a choice to buy a Tippmann X7 or a Bob Long Russian Legion Timmy for my first marker. I thought about it, and I went for the Timmy, it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I love playing in the woods more than speedball, because I like the natural environment, but I love my Timmy more than any Woodsball marker out there. Timmy’s are FAST! LIGHT! and Easy to Clean!!
Agreed mate. People …
Agreed mate. People have the totally wrong idea about paintball and its “harmful influence”. Paintballs =/= death dealing machine!
i would rather have …
i would rather have a more durable gun even if it weighs a little more
lol keep goin mike …
lol keep goin mike and for the othr guy….PWNED!!!!!
huh? When did we …
huh? When did we start talking about real guns?
We’re talking about paintball toys. That’s like saying “So you think that baseball bat is heavy? Try carrying around a Shoulder Mounted Tow Missle”
wtf? The absolute last thing I ever think about when looking at paintball equipment is “I wonder how much of a difference it is to shoot a paintball at my friend on the field, to splattering his brains with a REAL GUN!! YEAA!!!”
wtf bro, paintball and real guns don’t belong in the same sentence
okay you can get …
okay you can get those attatchments but its not that heavy, my .243 rifle is heavy and it was made in the 70′s but i dont need to constantly have it pointed at the ground
You my man… Are …
You my man… Are correct.. Lol, I’m a woodsballer and I own a Tiberius T9 – the rifle assembly (which is pretty accurate depending on the paint). I get L-I-T up in close combat… Guys run up with the lightweight guns and tear us to shreds (half the time they don’t notice me – <3 my gillie suit). But yeah, those xball markers blow right over custom A-5′s or anything else you can possibly think of. Some people like the respect and looks of a big scary gun, but its all bs in my experience.
totally agree mike!
totally agree mike!
ive been playing …
ive been playing senarioball for years, mainly at skirmish usa, in which games last 48 hours, the best thing i have ever done in playing paintball for 9-10 years has been to buy a dangerous power g3, it is so light and it has all the bells and whistles of the egos and for half the cost. in my opinion, best senario gun ever!
